A Sneak Peak of Spring 2009 Ready-to-wear Fashion
Colors: Like everything else, the color schemes of choice is decided by the designer. And while whites and neutrals will forever be the mainstay of spring wardrobes, don’t discard splashes of color here and there. So what is expected for this upcoming Spring of 2009? 3.1 Phillip Lim is sticking with neutrals, and vibrant citrus colors like yummy yellow and outrageous orange. BCBG Max Azria does not see black and white; he sees shades of grey. Nicole Miller is mixing lots of color in wild and fun prints. Like Miller, Walter is all about prints, along with brown and colorful florals. Michael Kors takes a more daring, yet sophisticated route with black, white and blue. And Baby Phat is seeing green…..and purple.
Styles: With the fashion world consistently changing, it seems to be a bit hard to keep up with current trends. But remember its all about the little details, not the big picture. Tracy Reese’s collection is filled with old fashion feminine elements such as lacy tiers and even tulip skirts.Cynthia Rowley goes for a more Jackie O. approach with simple shift dresses, but she also adds more looser fit options to her collection. One of this season’s most diverse collections actually comes from Rock and Republic: well fitted jeans and ruffled blouses, mini party dresses, and plenty of jackets. And Marc Jacobs takes us back to the retro fifties with skirt suits and lady-like hats.
Accessories: Again its all about the details, and what better way to show of your personal style with stylish shoes and bags? Or how about bold jewelry and sunglasses? Whatever look suits you, the designers know there is nothing more personal than jewelry. Miss Sixty adds lots of bold colors to simple jewelry, and bold intricate designs to handbags. On the opposite end Issac Mizrahi keeps it easy with elegant sandals in tamer shades. Moschino Cheap and Chic make statements with large hats. You could also take a walk on the wild side with Proenza Schouler with bold heels and bright gloves.
With so many colors, trends, and accessories to choose from, you might want to make a wish list of what you want and need. This upcoming spring will be the most exciting style wise and I am already counting the days till spring apparel hits the stores!
